LEGO and Harry Potter, sitting in a tree. B-U-I-L-D-I-N-G. These two franchises hold massive fan power and nostalgia factor; and combining them has resulted in a family friendly title that provides the best of both worlds. ShopTo has slipped back to a close second place by raising their prices to £26.95, allowing Gameplay to slip under the radar with a cool £22.99. This will save you a smidge under £4- and £2 compared to last week's deal.
Neil rewarded Lego Harry Potter with our coveted perfect score in his full review... and whilst I may not agree entirely with its perfect status, I have to concede that it's a mighty fine piece of software. In fact, when my housemate and I tried it out, it managed to sucker two grown men into six solid hours of gameplay... despite being rated 7+!
So how can a LEGO title based on a reasonably 'new' franchise (compared to Indiana Jones and Star Wars) manage to entrance almost every gaming demographic? The answer is simple: it's actually a capable and occasionally sadistic puzzler. Beneath the cutesy platforming exterior lies an awesome core of molten brainteasing... and it's as addictive as you'd expect. An anarchic sense of humour and masses of hidden secrets pad out the package, providing both belly laughs and extra value.
Whilst a few technical issues, bugs and a nasty targeting system occasionally spoil the fun- I can heartily recommend this game to any Harry Potter fan of any age, gender or gaming preference.
