Levine lampoons Thief in BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Episode 2's "1998 Mode"

Having worked on Thief: The Dark Project back in 1998, Ken Levine cheekily references the classic stealth game in BioShock Infinite's final PC pack.

Burial At Sea Episode 2 can be played in the appropriately-named "1998 Mode," which limits Elizabeth solely to sneaking and non-lethal tools. Even the banner is a direct homage to Garrett's excellent adventure. We like the idea immensely - and hope that Episode 2 can impress us more than its underwhelming predecessor when it releases on March 25th.

Completely coincidentally (yeah, right), Eidos Montreal's Thief reboot released today in the UK to mixed reviews. Matt tells us that it's a good game with inconsistent trappings in his 7/10 review, but players absolutely need to choose the correct difficulty setting and modifiers to make the most of it.
