Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox Bundle Spotted In The Wild

A limited Halo 4 Xbox console bundle has been outed thanks to a hastily-pulled Microsoft advert. This translucent new SKU will feature blue LED backlighting, custom-designed decals, a 320GB hard drive and actual Halo sounds when you turn it on.

To Microsoft's credit, it's certainly more tasteful than their last offering...

Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox Bundle Spotted In The Wild

That Little English Halo Blog caught the now-defunct store page before Microsoft managed to wipe it clean, bringing us the following information:

  • Exclusive design: Limited-edition, one-of-a-kind console was custom designed by the Halo 4 developer, 343 Industries, and Xbox 360
  • Two custom Halo 4 wireless controllers: High-performance controllers boast a range of up to 30 feet and come with a rotating D-pad and blue LED lights
  • Halo 4 Standard Edition game: Begin the Halo Reclaimer saga right out of the box
  • Exclusive sounds: Hear actual Halo 4 in-game sound effects when console is turned on and when the eject button is pushed
  • Largest hard drive available: The 320-GB hard drive offers more space for game add-ons and downloadable content, and more memory to store all of your entertainment
  • Custom downloadable content: Receive a code to download Halo 4 content from Xbox LIVE, including unique armor skin, unique weapon skin, unique emblem, matching avatar armor, and unique avatar prop
  • Black Xbox 360 headset: Chat with friends on Xbox LIVE, or team up and jump in with multiplayer gameplay

Why, why, why would they include a *standard* version of Halo 4 with this? Surely anyone daft enough to buy the console would want the limited edition?

"content from Xbox LIVE, including unique armor skin, unique weapon skin, unique emblem, matching avatar armor, and unique avatar prop" is why!

...but then you still have to buy the LE for the steelbook, art book etc. I know that the real answer is "to wring more money out of collectors, Halo fanboys and gullible idiots", I just wish they wouldn't be so transparent about it

If you wait a year, that money will probably buy you an "Xbox 720". It does look like a good design though.
