Twitch.tv Partnership To Begin Very Soon
Origin’s rocky start hasn’t helped endear itself to a number of gamers, but EA hopes to change all that with some new additions to its online service. The first big addition will be the inclusion of Livestreaming, which will be added in the immediate future to those opted in for beta updates, and “shortly thereafter” for everyone else.
The new addition is thanks to a partnership with popular gaming stream website Twitch.tv, allowing gamers to livestream their gaming catalogue through the Origin overlay. Not only that, but this will also apply to any non-Origin games that are added to browser, another feature which will be added in the upcoming update.
In a post on the official Origin blog, EA reminds players that livestreaming will affect bandwidth and system performance, but some options have been created to help out with the issue, such as lowering the frame rate and resolution of a broadcast. The post concludes by thanking the community for its feedback, and that EA are “not even close to done” with improving Origin.
Overall, Origin may well still be playing catch-up with rival Steam, but this is certainly a positive move for EA’s digital platform. You can read the blog post on the upcoming additions here.
