Japanese Lollipop Chainsaw Promo Showcases Bosses

The more we see of this game, the more we want it. Killer punk rock zombie that can stitch himself back together? Yes please! A morbidly obese Viking, spewing laser beams of death metal from his decapitated noggin? Yep, we'll have that. And what about the funky undead lovechild of Baron Samedi and Bootsy Collins, who literally drops bombs?

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Ahem.

Grasshopper Reveal Voice Cast Alongside New Trailer

What's a man without a penis? What's a penis without a man? These are the life-shattering questions a voice actor working on a Grasshopper Manufacture title needs to be prepared to ask themselves.

Grasshopper have dropped a new trailer revealing the voice cast behind the upcoming game. Tara Strong, the voice behind Batman: Arkham Asylum's maniacal Harley Quinn, steps up to play protagonist Juliet.

Lollipop Chainsaw Valentines Day Trailer

"How Am I Still Talking... Without A F*cking Thorax?!!"

Love is in the air during this most romantic of seasons, and can blossom between the unlikeliest of people. For example, between chainsaw-wielding cheerleader Juliet and the decapitated head of her boyfriend Nick. This touching (and thoroughly NSFW, I'd like to add) trailer explores their relationship and how Nick can be used as a deadly weapon in Suda51's upcoming brawler Lollipop Chainsaw.

Oh, and it's properly hilarious.

Meet Lollipop Chainsaw's Latest Villain: Swan

Every school has its outcasts... and Lollipop Chainsaw’s San Romero High is no exception. Swan is the resident Goth stereotype who loathes other people, and seeking revenge on the people who rejected and ridiculed him, embarks on a mission to take over the world.  Luckily heroic undead-slaying cheerleader Juliet will be on hand to mete out some cute-yet-gory ultraviolence in Suda51's bizarre pulpy epic action game.

We've got a new trailer and some screenshots after the break so that you and Swan can get better acquianted.

Lollipop Chainsaw Preview | Bubblegum Violence

Just looking at the Suda 51 name and Juliet Starling’s outfit, you know this is going to be another bat-shit crazy game from the Japanese auteur and Grasshopper Manufacture. What I didn’t expect to see at the developer walkthrough with Producer Scott Warr at Warner Bros Interactive’s Gamescom HQ was some of the most engaging action of the week.

You are high-school cheerleader Juliet Starling who forgoes further extra-curricular activities in favour of a spot of vampire zombie slaying and it looks like they’ve chosen her 18th birthday (cutting it close, Suda-san) to come and find her at school. We’re not asking why zombies are there; let’s face it, if no film in history can give us a decent explanation, why should we expect any more from Suda 51’s pigtails-and-chainsaw vision? Juliet attends San Romero High, an on-the-nose reference reference to the classic zombie director, who still manages to get his dues despite his last few films being absolute shite.

The visuals aren’t your usual standard as they have a cell-shaded flavour to them, most noticeable thanks to the thin black line around the characters, who themselves have richly shaded textures. Think The Darkness II but with less gloom. Additionally there is a film grain filter on top, which does a good job of hiding any rougher edges.

Lollipop Chainsaw

Lollipop Chainsaw was announced last week to not-much fanfare. Suda 51's followup to Shadows of the Damned is shaping up to be typically weird and wonderful, with a teenage cheerleader sawing up all manner of undead monstrosities who bleed blasts of pink light when struck by her trademark chainsaw. We know little to nothing on the title, except that the director or cult-classics Slither and Super, James Gunn, penned the script.

You thought Shadows of the Damned was weird? Wait till you see Lollipop Chainsaw, where 18 year-old high school cheerleader Juliet Starling battles all manner of undead monstrosities who bleed "bursts of pink light". This is Suda51's next game, outed on Japanese mag Famitsu and kindly translated by 1UP, and it sounds suitably weird and wonderful.
