LucasArts Taking An "Unannounced Game In Development" To E3

Holy shitballs, Batman! LucasArts are apparently working on games again! EGM have reported that they received an invitation to check out an “unannounced game in development" from the Star Wars outfit at E3 in a couple of weeks.

They naturally asked whether or not this game would have lightsabers in it, unsurprising considering the amount of Battlefront III chunter that's been doing the rounds, but LucasArts weren't exactly forthcoming with responses.

We'll try and sneak Jon in come June to find out what's up.

As I said to Matt when the news went live, my money is on it being something along the lines of "Starkiller's Lightsaber Fitness Trainer - For Kinect"

It was at this point that I put my fingers in my ears and went "LALALALALALALA" really loudly.

It cropped up on the podcast recording...so I threatened Carl with ninjas, forgetting that ninjas would be crap in this heat, and don't really work in the daytime.

Come on Grim Fandango HD

With the recent success of the revised ("Special Edition") versions of the first two "Monkey Island" titles, perhaps "Grim Fandango" will be next, ODB_69.

A sequel to "Full Throttle" has been tried a few times (& failed on each occasion).

I would favour "Day of the Tentacle" Episodic Game Content (possibly co-developed with Telltale Games), or even "Day of the Tentacle HD".

A Star Wars-themed game for the Wii U platform is going to be a likely candidate though.

I posted a comment 3 hours ago that is still "awaiting moderation".

'Late' has had a comment published that was posted "1 hour ago".

Why the need to moderate (my comments) now?

Filter glitch, apologies FP.

FP, with Tim Schafer and various other at Double Fine now... a Lucasarts Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle would not be the same!

I would love for the whole crew to get back and do a new point and click, but for now we need to wait for the Double Fine adventure from the kickstarter.

My money is on something Star Wars (as it's from the Star Wars outfit!), hopefully a Jedi Knight game.

New third-person action adventure franchise set in the Star Wars universe; players to control bounty hunter in criminal underworld beneath Coruscant; no platforms announced; more details at E3 2012.

LucasArts has unveiled a new Star Wars games franchise, making the announcement tonight during Spike's Game Trailers TV show.

Titled Star Wars 1313, the internally-developed third-person action adventure game will see players take on the role of a bounty hunter navigating a subterranean metropolis Level 1313, beneath the surface of the planet Coruscant.

While the game will make its formal debut at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), LucasArts announced the game is being development with the help of artists across the Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound. The game will be based on the Unreal engine and feature full-body performance capture.

Star Wars 1313 will see players utilise "exotic" weapons in a bid to uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy beneath Coruscant. According to LucasArts, the game will emphasize fast-paced combat--the game's hero will use human skills and gadgets rather than supernatural Force powers. In addition, the game will feature a combination of cover-based combat, platforming and "playable cinematic gameplay".

"Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit," LucasArts president Paul Meegan said in a statement.

No details have yet been given on platforms or release date.

The latest entry in the Star Wars franchise was Kinect Star Wars, which was released in April and received a chilly reception by critics. That game is set primarily during the time of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, with overlapping parts of the other prequel trilogy films and nods to the original Star Wars trilogy.

LucasArts will reveal more details about Star Wars 1313 at next week's E3 in Los Angeles.
