If your Wii could do with a serious gore injection then you may want to reconsider your curious decision to bypass the blood soaked MadWorld.
Laskys are asking just £4.99 for the title which is the best deal around at the moment. Comet are currently offering the game for the same bargainous price but if you don't have one near you then you'll be subject to their hefty postage charge of £5.82.
Madworld is set in the cosy and friendly Varrigan City, where terrorist group "The Organizers" have apparently released a lethal virus and the only way to get one's mitts on a vaccine is by participating in an orgy of murder and mayhem. And so "Death Watch" is born; a game show in which the contestants are pitted against each other for the chance to stay alive and make some big cash. You take on the role of Jack, Death Watch's newest entrant and the proud owner of a chainsaw where his right arm ought to be. There goes the neighbourhood...
MadWorld is gritty and gruesome and the black and white visuals only accentuate the sudden washes of blood red. This arresting visual style is distinctive and stylish, and often beautiful, but you may find that your eyes need frequent breaks. The combat itself is intense and creative and very satisfying for it. The commentary is a little repetitive but nonetheless hilarious, entertaining and obscene. All things considered, the game's many great qualities more than make up for its flaws.
Despite this being a great deal, it makes me sad to see games like MadWorld in the world's bargain bins because it is inventive, adult titles like this that the Wii is really crying out for.
