This one is a pretty awesome deal, knocking masses off the usual asking price for Magna Carta 2, or at least it would be if the game was just a little bit better.
Play's price of £9.99 is pretty exceptional as currently the next cheapest is a hefty eight pounds more at £17.99 from Blah DVD and its affliates, while the vast majority of retailers are still selling it for at least £20.
Magna Carta 2 is set in a land rent at the seams by the march of civil war after the evil Prime Minister of the kingdom of Lanzheim kills the queen. In typical JRPG fashion it falls to a young, green-as-spring-grass boy to save the day. This time it's Juto an amnesiac who happens to stumble upon the rightful heir to the throne, Princess Rzephillda Grena Berlinette who is forming an elite combat unit in hopes of restoring her place as ruler. So far, so blah and unfortunately it doesn't ever really pick up. It's all rather a bland and forgettable affair to be honest and it can be hard to maintain your interest through the 40+ hours of gameplay.
On the plus side, the game features a fast and fun real time combat system and plenty of quests to sink your teeth into. It is also rather pretty to look at with nice textures and well detailed backgrounds but it is hampered by a frustrating camera. Magna Carta 2 offers plenty to do but sadly it is lacking in inspiration and any kind of spark to set it apart from the competition. But at least it's cheap eh?
