Mass Effect 2 £18.12 @ Powerplay Direct [Xbox 360 Games]

Out of all the games I've played this year, it's a close competition between Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 as to which is my favourite, and both are worthy contenders for a Game of The Year award.

NB. Remember to use the following code to get the game at the advertised price: B4U

You can grab a copy on the Xbox 360 for £18.12 from Powerplay Direct, which'll make you a saving of almost £2 on the next best price of £19.99 coming in from Cool Shop UK.

It's refreshing to find a sequel thats storyline is on par if not better than the original and you'll be glued from the screen from start to finish, which should take approximately 40hrs. The ability to import your character from Mass Effect 1 is a great touch, which'll have an impact on the main game depending on what course of action you took in the original. You'll be reunited with a number of familiar faces during your travels, as well as picking up some brand new shipmates who are equally as interesting.

There are a couple of improvements to the gameplay, which certainly increase the overall enjoyment of the experience. Your powers can now be mapped to buttons of your choosing, which reduces interruptions by the power wheel during combat, and you'll be able to quickly shout out orders to your team, although they're perfectly capable of looking after themselves in a tricky situation. Cutscenes have been made a little bit more interesting, as you can now activate renegade and paragon actions that'll cause Shepard to perform certain moves, which means you'll need to pay attention instead of sitting back and watching the story unfold.

Unfortunately there are still a few flaws present, the biggest of which would have to be the new planetary scanner that replaces the Mako as your primary means for gathering resources. Whilst it's certainly quicker than bouncing around in the little tank, there are so many planets to go through that you'll find yourself getting bored after a few minutes.

Basically, this is an outstanding game that's definitely worth every penny.
