Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Confirmed

A picture is supposed to be worth a thousand words... and this one is taken from the front cover of Australian magazine PC Powerplay.

"That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy."

So there. Unless the reveal is a big fat hoax - which is very unlikely - Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is definitely happening. We'll bring you more as we hear it.

"Fight alongside your friends" = co-op? Makes perfect sense for a squad-based game. Again, with the usual caveats about not detracting from the SP, etc.

They better not screw up single player by wasting time on this pointless feature + kinect. I am seriously worried about it now. Gimmicks take effort from the core which is single player in ME!

But every game needs multiplayer!

...oh, wait, no, it's not like that at all.

Noooo! This is just what I didn't want to hear!

How would they enable co-op play when it comes to things like dialogue in-game? Does the host make all the dialogue choices and the other people have to sit around watching?

I'm guessing some sort of 'Arcade' mode where you can replay missions already beaten with a group of squaddies, as that way you don't have to go through all the RPG elements with other players.
