EA have announced that 3.5 million copies of Mass Effect 3 have been shipped to retailers worldwide, having revealed that the trilogy finale sold just under 900,000 copies in its first 24 hours in the US.
"We anticipated it doing well, so we're happy," EA CEO John Riccitiello said yesterday.
Furthermore, retailer GameStop suggested that 40% of day one customers also boughta code for day one DLC 'From Ashes'. "The tie ratio at the register is the highest in their history," Riccitiello said.
BioWare were pretty happy about it too.
"We have been truly humbled by the amazing response from fans and critics for Mass Effect 3," said BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka.
"The game is a gripping, engaging experience where the decisions and choices you make will truly stay with you for the months and years ahead. We are all incredibly proud of Casey Hudson and the teams in Edmonton and Montreal for delivering the best game BioWare has ever made."
We're going to reserve judgement on that last sentence. A stunning achievement certainly, but the best game BioWare have ever made? We're not so sure of that.
Our review is still underway.
