Well, voice actor Steve Downes at least. The man behind the iconic space marine has spoken out to suggest that Halo fans will have something to play this year, but it won't be the sequel that many Xbox One owners are waiting for.
GameZone caught up with Downes to quiz him about the mysterious upcoming Xbox One titles. He proved surprisingly forthcoming.
“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5,” he said. “I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”
Okay then. This ties in with one of the recent rumours from megaton tipster ntkrnl, who also outed the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition. Though Halo 2 was fairly narrow in terms of level design and ended on a supremely annoying cliffhanger, its superb Earth and Delta Halo missions were absolutely phenomenal. Not to mention a lengthy Banshee dogfight accompanied by wailing electric fiddle.
Having fired up Halo 4 recently for some surprisingly successful Grifball matches, we absolutely can't wait for the next game in the series - and hope that it manages to expand the campaign's corridor-like levels into more open battlefields. By the looks of things, though, we'll almost certainly have to wait another year.
