Jon's got the latest on what we can from Rockstar's next magnum opus, Max Payne 3, but now we have four all new screenshots to feast our glazed eyes on. Featuring a younger - read, not bald - Max in all his gun-wielding glory, it's a sight for sore eyes, being so late in the day, but no less welcome as we gear up for E3 and the absolute onslaught of media.
Here, we see Max firing away with twin pistols at presumably assailants off-screen - who obviously deserve it, too - with the screen awash in a murky, stylish filter Rockstar's becoming very fond of. In the background, however, is a signpost declaring Estaleiru Marina, which leads me to believe this scene is ripped from Max's Brazilian favela excursion, possibly near the sea. Bullet-time leaps into the drink, anyone?
Next, a rather worried-looking Max replete with hand to his ear, possibly to drop in on a convenient transmission, cowers behind some sort of obstacle, clutching a sniper rifle. The idea of sniping goons from afar and watching their skulls explode in patented bullet-time is delicious, and one of Bulletstorm's rare pleasures amongst all the hypocritical drivel.
Third up, we have Max posing for the camera, sporting a bloodied arm and fetching shirt. Having seemingly survived a scrape with death, Max appears to be lying low on a shuttered-up porch at night. The art-style is reminiscent of the first shot, and Max's appearance is similar, too, so I expect this was taken shortly after he started shooting at people and lived to regret it.
Last but not least, the wounded Max defies logic and raises his pistol to start shooting people again, despite the bandaged wound on his left arm oozing badass blood. The four shots appear to be in chronological order, with Max firing his pistols, then ducking to cover sheepishly, running off sporting a new wound, before reappearing to wreak yet more havoc.
I originally stated the shots to be from Max Payne 3's new Brazilian setting, although the backdrop in this last shot - of a smoggy cityscape - suggests I might be wrong. Or maybe Max kicks things off in upstate Brazilian, before finding himself mired in favela gang warfare. We can't wait for Rockstar to show off more from Max's next adventure, hopefully at E3.
