Max Payne 3 Special Edition Announced

Surprise, Surprise; It's Got A Max Payne Figurine

Publishers, can we please change up the special edition staple-piece? We're bored to death of figurines and statuettes. Or, at least, I am. Maybe it's because shelf space is a luxury in my cluttered room reserved for rubbish I can't be asked to deposit in the bin mere feet away. Or maybe it's because paying extortionate prices for a useless chunk of merchandise doesn't fan the hype much for me. Whatever. Rockstar just announced the contents for the Max Payne 3 Special Edition. It's chock-full of stuff.

So, what's inside? Well, first off, a 10" collectable statue of the grim-faced hero himself, designed by Rockstar in conjunction with what I'm assuming isn't a Zelda-related TriForce company. Next, a number of Original Still Life Art Prints from the game itself that depict Max's demons and vices in a more obvious manner. It's joined by a Bullet Keychain, plated with real copper and brass. It also screws off at the back, in case you want to harbor any illicit cargo.

On to the less tangible incentives, the Classic Multiplayer Character Pack does exactly what it states on the tin, throwing eight exclusive multiplayer characters into the competitive mix. Throw in the Disorderly Conduct Multiplayer Weapons Pack, with its Hammerhead Auto Shotgun, G9 Grenade Launcher and Molotov cocktail, and you'll be raring to go.

Finally a copy of the game's official soundtrack joins the actual game itself. This full-to-the-brim collection will set you back £99.99 in the UK, and is available for pre-order at Zavvi, Amazon and the Rockstar Warehouse right now. [Rockstar]

This. There has to be more imaginative and useful swag for publishers to offer us. Maybe a Max Payne-branded set of hair clippers?
