Max Payne 3 Launch Trailer Goes Live, It's Crunch Time

Rockstar have unleashed the launch trailer for Max Payne 3, which rather pertinently talks about being somewhat stuck in time between trying to move on and look to the future, and trying to rebuild the past.

Rockstar's return to the series Remedy kicked off is almost upon us. The swathe of videos, screenshots, captures, and dev diaries have left a number of you (and us) divided in opinion, but there's not much waiting left to be done.

Max Payne 3 drops over here in Europe at the end of next week on May 18th for PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC release set for June 1st. North American audiences can expect to get it three days earlier in both cases.

Max Payne 3 Comes On Two Xbox 360 Discs

In case you're interested - or care about such things - Rockstar has confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of Max Payne 3 will ship on two discs. This announcement comes after US rental site Redbox spilled the beans; listing the SKU but incorrectly describing its contents.

“Max is on 2 discs for 360, so Redbox will be renting disc 1 which contains half of the single player story and the full multiplayer game.” - Rockstar on Twitter

It seems that we'll only need to change discs once, then, which is a nice change of pace after the bizarrely compartmentalised Mass Effect 3. Max Payne 3 will release on May 18th for PS3 and Xbox 360 - while the PC version lags behind until June 1st.

Rockstar Unleashes Max Payne 3 Complete Achievements List

Rockstar have unveiled the entire list of Achievements and Trophies up for grabs in Max Payne 3, detailing over 40 goals for erstwhile gamers to chase across both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Though fairly comprehensive, Rockstar have left out one or two to keep a couple of secrets untouched, but even so, do be wary of minor spoilers.

New Max Payne 3 Vid Shows Off Targeting And Weapons

Rockstar have released an in-depth look at the mechanics behind the targeting and gun-based action in Max Payne 3. Fans of the series' trademark run-and-gun action will probably appreciate the gameplay footage. There are little notes on animation design, enemy AI and, of course, Bullet Time, with partially destructible scenery visible in the video too. In the fray, from a technical, visual perspective, it looks like Rockstar are ticking all of the right boxes...

...although it's still a bit too bright for our liking.

Rockstar Details Max Payne 3 Research

Sinking In To The Underground

Rockstar is arguably the best our industry has to offer when it comes to realizing period in time and their distinct vibe and atmosphere, be it the seedy, neon-drenched night-life of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, or the sun-baked sprawl and desperation of Red Dead Redemption. Up next, the crime-ridden slums of Sao Paolo, Brazil; Max Payne 3's all new - somewhat jarringly so - setting, with the titular gunslinger mired in all sorts of trouble. Rockstar went to extreme lengths to capture Sao Paolo in all its glory, from the architecture and cultural hotspots to its varied, class-straddling citizens.
