The latest IndieGameStand promotion allows you to take an early look at McDroid, a mix of arcade shooting, tower defence and mech-on-mech action. This game looks pretty good, like AirMech but more cutesy.

There is a $1 minimum value to get a Desura key - I've had a look on Desura and I don't really understand it.
What does the Desura key give me over just buying the game for say $0.99?

Thanks!

@X10: Desura is a digital marketplace and community (like Steam, sort of) that specialises in indie games and modding, while also having links with ModDB and other sites. Basically, the Desura key lets you redeem it on your existing account. If you have one.

So if you're not an active Desura user, and don't have the client installed, then there's practically no advantage to a Desura key over a direct download. Updates can be acquired from Elephantopia or via the IndieGameStand wallet when they're available, so there's no extra hassle there.

Basically, I'd go ahead and pay what you think it's worth. McDroid is definitely a bit rough and ready in its beta state, but there's plenty of fun to be had especially if you fancy giving some feedback to the devs.

Hey Jon, thanks for the detailed response, and the updates ;) !

It isn't obvious that the payment is for unlimited updates into the full game as well. It also isn't clear that you can get those updates through IGS-Where did you find that info?

Thanks
