MechWarrior Online hit v.1.0 last night, following a year of open beta that has seen several improvements, some setbacks and a huge amount of controversy surrounding poor communication between Infinite Game Publishing and founder member players. Either way, the free to play multiplayer mech game is ready for action, and you can set up an account here.

This also means that MWO is now fair game for critique. We'll bring you a full review soon.

I honestly didn't get a sense of what the game would be like from that trailer. Just a bunch of flashy graphics, which in some scenes looked pretty poor (and other that looked quite nice).

Also surprised that Jon didn't mention the guitar usage in the trailer ;)

I tried the beta a few months ago and I thought it was awful. Didn't feel anything like Mech Warrior 3 to me (nowhere near as good). Even that Mech Warrior game on the Xbox was better!

Combat was bad, maps were bad, graphics were bad. Controls didnt feel good like older Mech Warrior games. Some matches only lasted 1 minute because each team just rushed to each others bases, somehow not running into each other - no fighting... BORING :(
