After a leak earlier this week spoiled the surprise, ArenaNet and NCsoft today confirmed that the eighth and final class for its upcoming MMORPG Guild Wars 2 will be the Mesmer.
The Mesmer are described as “magical duelists who rely on deception and confusion to keep their opponents in check.” While not directly as strong as the other available classes, the Mesmer relies on summoning illusions of itself to bring the hurt to their enemies. Defensive spells, such as hiding allies, will provide additional incentives for other players to have a Mesmer in their groups. We’ve got a video of the Mesmer class in action as well as a few screenshots after the jump.
You can find out more about the new class on the official website here. It brings an end to months of speculation about what the final class would end up being, and allows prospective players to finally start asking that all-important question; “what class should I play?” Guild Wars 2 still has no official release date, with a “when it’s done” approach being taken.
