Microsoft "Very, Very Confident" That Xbox 360 Is This Year's Best-Selling UK Console

If you're the kind of person who cares about sales figures, you might be interested to know that Microsoft is confident that the Xbox 360 will be this year's best-selling console in the UK. "Very, very confident," in fact.

Xbox Live product manager Pawan Bhardwaj told CVG that data from GFK Chart-Track puts Xbox 360 sales figures above all other UK consoles during the start of the year, and that he's "very, very confident" that the PS3, Wii or Wii U won't overtake it over the holiday season.

"The data we have is for the January to September period, but I can absolutely assure you that the Xbox 360 will be the best-selling console for the calendar year," Bhardwaj continued.

GFK Chart-Track were unwilling to confirm the statement, with a spokesperson promising to "reveal the year's best-selling hardware when the year is over".

It's unlikely (to the point of impossibility) that the Wii U will be able to overtake the Xbox 360 due to its late November release date and slow-to-start UK marketing campaign, but Sony's new 'super-slim' PS3 4000 model and bundles may well be a strong contender. As GFK said, we'll have to wait until the end of the year to find out.

Holiday season? Idungeddit. I guess they must mean Christmas.

Christmas? Wassat? Oh, surely you mean interdenominational and/or secular annual late-December holiday season? :P

IA/OSALDHS is a magical time of year, where families get together or don't and exchange gifts or not.

In all seriousness, though, Holiday Season tends to refer to September-December rather than just December in retail land. But yeah, maybe I'll say Christmas next time...

Nah, IA/OSALDHS works perfectly, and just rolls off the tongue.
