Microsoft Game Studios has expanded...to Vancouver! Previously operating under the name 'Zipline', the studio has recently been rebranded to MGS Vancouver, the modus operandi being to 'create exciting experiences that core gamers will really want to play'.
'[MGS Vancouver is] dedicated to making games for "core" gamers. Our mission is to push the limits of proven and unexplored game development and show the world what's possible on Microsoft's game consoles. And yes, we're also an awesome place to work!'
There have been mutterings that the studio is busy developing a Kinect-based game, GamesIndustry.biz notes that art director Shawn Woods' CV was discovered by a poster on NeoGAF to allude to a 'core AAA shooter experience using Kinect'. However, the reference has since been removed and MGSV have confirmed nothing.
Considering the wealth of first party talent at both Nintendo and, especially, Sony's disposal, we rather reckon it's about time Microsoft stopped sitting on their fading laurels and did something too, though it remains to be seen how this start-up setup will fare.
They're hiring over on their shiny, new website for a variety of positions.
