Minecraft 2-For-1 Offer This Weekend

Further Minecon Details Explode Like A Creeper

Minecraft, the indie block-based sandbox juggernaut of the gaming world, has already reached 3 million sales, but thanks to a special offer this weekend that number could shoot up further. And it's all in the name of "wub".

To celebrate the fact that lead developer Markus “Notch” Pearson is getting married today, the folks at Mojang are giving away an additional retail code with every purchase of the game. As such, if you and a friend or loved one have been tempted to play Minecraft in the past you can now do so for half the normal price, which is just over £13. You can check out the offer at the official website.

In other news, tickets for Minecon are now on sale. The event, which will take place on 18th - 19th November in Las Vegas, will cost $99 per person and will be hosting several events during its two day run. Along with keynote speeches (including one from Notch), various contests, and the chance to buy exclusive merchandise, Minecon will also mark the official launch for Minecraft. In addition, the first 500 people to buy tickets will be entered into a draw to win “The Ultimate Fan Experience” which will include a hotel room for the convention, VIP seating during events, and a meal with the developers. You can find more details on the event at the link here.

There is no word on whether there will be Creepers in attendance to blow up everything you hold dear.

Minecraft’s next update, simply called the “Adventure Update”, is expected soon and will add new features such as NPC villages, new combat mechanics, improved biomes, and brand new enemies including the recently revealed (and rather creepy) Endermen.

So fellow Dealspwners, do we have any Minecraft fans out there? Are any of you planning on making the trip to Sin City for Minecon in November? Sound off in the comments!
