It's been coming for a while, but Minecraft is coming out of beta and busting out into the retail market, and Notch confirmed on Twitter earlier this week that the game has gone gold.
'Going gold' tends to refer to the culmination of a development cycle when the game has been crafted into as complete a state as possible - or at least to a state in which publishers can start charging people to play it - though, in Minecraft's case, we're not entirely sure what that actually means.
Of course, it does now mean that Minecraft can now be reviewed. Which, in itself, is fairly pointless to be honest. however, we do feel Minecraft is one of the best things ever...and it's mainly because someone used it to make this slice of excellence.
