Miyamoto Wants Metroid And Star Fox On Wii U

Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto has suggested that Metroid on Wii U "could be really fantastic".

"With Metroid it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U," Miyamoto told IGN. "I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.

"I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic. There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."

Miyamoto stopped short of confirming whether or not such a project was actually in development, but he did also suggest that the game he'd "personally" most like to see on the platform is Star Fox.

Being one of Ninty's most senior executives, and the co-manager of the company's internal dev teams, if anyone can make these things happen...it's Miyamoto. Fingers crossed for both, folks!

"if anyone can make these things happen...it's Miyamoto."

Or, dare I say it, Hideki Kamiya (Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Bayonetta) - who's actually offered to make a new Star Fox game under the Platinum umbrella. And just imagine what would happen if Metroid's exploration met Vanquish's combat...

Since Platinum are currently working with Nintendo on Project P-100 (easily the best Wii U launch title by far), I'd love to see them loosed on some classic Ninty IP. It seems to be working for Metal Gear Rising...
