Frozen Synapse handily got our vote for the best strategy and indie game of 2011, and a cross-platform iPad version will soon be arriving on the app store. However, Mode 7 Games are apparently "always open" to the idea of bringing the experience to other platforms... and that a Vita or PS3 version will be entirely "up to the platform holders."
Mode 7's Paul Taylor revealed his desire for new ports and platforms in an interview with Digital Spy, wherein he stated that the decision is entirely in Sony's hands.
Totally [interested in ports], I'm always open to other platforms. It's really up to the platform holders whether they are willing to give us support to get on there.
But I would love to be on Vita, I think that would work brilliantly for the game. And PS3 as well, I think could work. Right across the board, totally willing to listen to anything. We just haven't got the right structure yet to do it.
We don't think that a home console will be a good fit for Frozen Synapse's asynchronous multiplayer action... but the Vita would be perfect. Plus, 3G adopters would be able to check into the social network on the move and participate in battles at their own pace.
