On a recent blog post on their official site, Sledgehammer Games Michael Condrey confirmed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, the epic Activision shooter they're assisting long-time developers Infinity Ward with, will include an option to support colour-blind users. Up until now, no other Call of Duty title had supported such features, but when you consider how important colour actually is in CoD - especially in multiplayer, determining friendlies from enemies, captured points from held - it's been long overdue.
Responding to a query posted on their official site regarding whether Modern Warfare 3 would support colour-blind players, Condrey confirmed a Colour-Blind Assist option is currently in the works and set for the game's November 8th release. Condrey explains that recent investigations into the matter suggest 6% of Americans are colour-blind. Averaging that estimate with Call of Duty's general population, he reasons that over a million regular users suffer from the visual impairment.
It's nice to see Activision - or, more specifically, Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward - are supporting their vast, inevitably diverse audience. A little good will goes a long way. [Sledgehammer Games]
