Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: Region Free Multiplayer & Off-TV Play Coming Post Launch

Capcom will be patching region-free multiplayer and the ability to play on Wii U Gamepad into Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. According to the latest press release, a free software update will add the new features in April, a month after the game launches. Once deployed, European and American players will be able to team up online (while their significant others watch something else on the television).

"Free of charge downloadable quests" will also trickle out over the following months, which will hopefully help to keep the online community thriving - something that most Wii U games are struggling to do. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate launches on March 22nd for Wii U and 3DS, with cross-play compatibility betwee the two. What did you make of the recent demo?

Loved the demo, but it seems to work much better on the 3DS than the WiiU (as a concept, I mean) - It's a shame the 3DS version doesn't have online play, I can't see myself splashing out for both without a significant discount...
