Get Your Mate A Free Copy (If They Register A 3DS)
Nintendo has revealed yet another 3DS promotion designed to get people onto the handheld. If you register (or have already registered) your copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, you'll get a code to give to a friend for a free download version if they also register a new 3DS system.
It's a bit complicated, but we've got more details after the break.
Here's the skinny, which I've pasted in full to avoid any extra confusion:
If you register Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version) with Club Nintendo before 22:59 (UK time) on 30th June, you’ll be able to receive a Recommendation Code which you can pass along to a friend*. If your friend registers a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL system between 23:01 (UK time) on 3rd June and 22:59 (UK time) on 31st July 2013, and enters the Recommendation Code before 22:59 (UK time) on 5th August 2013, he/she will be eligible to receive a free Download Code for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Nintendo 3DS!
As I understand it, you can request a download code if you've already registered Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but the recipient's 3DS has to be registered between June 3rd and July 31st (presumably to avoid people netting free copies for people who already have a 3DS).
However, if you've held off on registering your handheld on Club Nintendo until now, you can probably blag yourself a free game so long as one of your mates owns MH3U. Bear in mind that this offer goes live from 23:01 GMT today, so don't jump the gun!
The Wii U version is exempt.
You can read our Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate review for more gameplay details. The 3DS version is fully-featured bar the online multiplayer, but offers fantastic local co-op and streetpassing features. Save data can be transferred between both versions.
