Is there going to be a monthly fee for the new Call of Duty?

A friend mentioned this, but it just seems stupid. You pay so much for the game, I don't want to be paying a subscription. Will you pay it?

From what we understand, everything that was free in previous Call of Duty multiplayer game modes will remain that way. So we won't be having to pay a subscription (Xbox Live excluded) to jump online and start shooting each other in the face as is our wont.

Call of Duty: Elite will simply be offering additional content for a fee. Whether that includes downloadable maps/weapons we don't know.

Personally, I can't see myself taking advantage of Elite. It's one more monthly expense I can't really justify. Of course, if it comes with a sizeable amount of DLC it might be more cost-effective than buying it all separately...

I'm with Josh. If the "Elite" service includes all DLC and works out cheaper than it then I'm in. if it isn't then I'm not interested. I enjoy playing COD a damned site more than I'd enjoy sitting there editing videos of my games, and I've no interest in looking at more detailed stat pages etc.

Seems a bit unfair if paying for the DLC was to give players an advantage over the non paying members though? Like if they got better weapons?

I think nowadays it's so easy to tweak game features on the fly that even if new weapons were to unbalance the game, it would be a matter of updating the gameplay to reduce damage or increase kickback etc. If Elite were to add new weapons (and I'm not saying it will), it would be to give players access to a larger variety of guns, rather than to give them an advantage over non-paying members.
