The Morning Papers

Good morning!

Some big news today as the new Hitman movie gets its first trailer, UK retailers launch a ridiculous new Xbox One bundle price war and the winner of Curiosity reveals how poorly he's been treated by Peter Molyneux as far as his role as GODUS' top deity is concerned. Of all Molyneux's many broken promises, this one might top the lot.

In Case You Missed It...

Peter Molyneux not keeping promises eh... I almost fell off my chair in shock

Stop the presses, right? ;)

In all seriousness, though, I feel like GODUS is probably his biggest ****-up yet. And potentially last - I don't think he'll be particularly relevant again.

Hard to argue with that

I dunno how 22cans gets away with it?.

For a start, that cube game.
If I ran a competition in the UK with a promise of a prize and then failed to deliver on that prize; I could done for fraud. Worse still is people could pay in that game to increase their chances (If I remember rightly you could pay to add/remove blocks).

Peter should make it right now, instead of fake prizes, offer something real and life changing for the student. Pay for his Uni-fees (oh wait scotland do they get charged uni fees?), ok, offer a decent chunk of money towards a house/car/holiday. I dunno something other than false promises.

Godus...
The PC game is nothing like the Kick starter pledge. Again another case of fraud.

Still hopefully we have learned; do not trust this man. The best the press can do is ignore him, and warn people about previous scams when they come begging again for more money.

Just to really rub it in, Molyneux is working on a new game as well despite the state of GODUS. http://www.funandseriousgamefestival.com/english/news/peter-molyneux-announces-the-trial-at-the-fun-serious-game-festival/

GODUS being still broken despite cash influx from the mobile versions and Curiosity and Kickstarter and Early Access.

I've always had a lot of time for Molyneux despite his flam. Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate, Magic Carpet and Theme Park bought a lot of love even as Fable and Black & White failed to hit expectations. I'd always rather hear from a developer who's passionate, excited and thrilled about the possibilities of making games yet sometimes promises too much, not a slimy producer weasel spouting the party line. I also once accidentally ran straight into him at E3 and he was very nice about it.

But everything 22Cans has made is bull**** of the highest calibre. Abusive, unfinished c r a p, whether psychological warfare disguised as an app or a dismal god game that will likely never deliver on even its most basic remit. That freewheeling never-say-die spirit seems to just be a facade now, and frankly, I'm right with you on this point:

"The best the press can do is ignore him, and warn people about previous scams when they come begging again for more money."

Freaking A.
