Mortal Kombat Gets PS3 Demo & New Challenge Tower Trailer

We've got a couple of pieces of Mortal Kombat-related news for you today. Warner Bros have confirmed that a time-exclusive PS3 demo will hit PSN next week, and a new developer diary shows off the exciting new Challenge Tower mode (which is too explicit for us to show on the front page!). Expect glorious, gory-ous shenanigans- and we have the details below.

The PS3 demo has been dated for March 8th (next Tuesday), though only Playstation Plus subscribers will have access to it. The rest of you can get involved on March 15th, though at least you'll be able to lord it over the Xbox 360 crowd who will have to wait until "later." We'll keep you posted.

According to the press release, the demo will let us to grips with "Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena and Johnny Cage in two of the games most renowned arenas - the Living Forest and the Pit." Arcade leaderboards and modes will also be available for one or two players. Why not check out our hands-on preview for more details?

A new trailer has also hit the internet detailing Mortal Kombat's new challenge mode. The Challenge Tower will feature over 300 singleplayer levels, bringing back the fan-favourite Test Your Might and Test Your Sight minigames. Check it out below.

According to senior designer Mike Birkhead, this mode will be all about good old fashioned gory fun.

We wanted to make sure that we stayed true to the core of why people love this game, which is, I beat the s*** out of you and then I rip your head off".

Stirling stuff. Mortal Kombat is set for release on April 21st - and we'll bring you the latest as we hear it.
