Good bike racing games are getting particularly hard to come by on consoles these days- with titles like Trials HD and Joe Danger actually providing a platform experience rather than knees-to-the-asphalt racing action. MotoGP 09/10 promised to fill the next-gen void... and whilst it didn't quite manage to fulfil said promise, we aren't exactly spoiled for choice at the moment. Both Amazon and HMV are both retailing at £16.99, which will save you at least £8.50 compared to the rest of the pack (Tesco Entertainment with the FTSL 15-1 voucher code is the cheapest price rival in this case).
Bike racing is a staggeringly dangerous and nuanced affair where a single miscalculation or microsecond of hesitation can turn you into a greasy red smear on the tarmac. Whilst the MotoGP series were known for the same breakneck hardcore mentality, MotoGP 09/10 actually makes everything a lot more accessible. A traditional control scheme replaces the arcane twinstick controls of its predecessor, and new arcade-style handling makes for an infinitely more forgiving experience.
A huge selection of bike upgrades deliver a deceptively in-depth way of tweaking your ride, and there's a huge amount of content to play with. However, this isn't a perfect game by any means. There's a huge amount of grind to wade through to unlock the best races and series- and the handling can feel extremely Bugged time checkpoints and overly strict time limits also rear their ugly head... but as I said before, we're not exactly spoiled for choice. MotoGP 09/10 is a solid choice for bike fanatics- and this is the cheapest price around.
