If you're after a cartoony kart racer, then there is one must have game that stands head and shoulders above the rest. I am talking of course about Mario Kart. However, if you already have every instalment of Nintendo's series or have an unusual aversion to plumbers/toadstools/spiky tortoise things then you could do worse than to pick up a copy of My Sims Racing.
Shop To are currently selling the cutesy racing game for just £9.85 for the Wii version, a good £4 less than the next best price of £13.95 from My Memory. They are also offering the cheapest deal for the DS version at £7.95, £5.50 less than Amazon's runner up price!
There are three modes available, including the highlight, Story Mode. It's fun to create your own character and then steer them through the admittedly rather flimsy story and offers a rare stab at originality for the game. The karts control well and the tracks are enjoyable to navigate, a heightened sense of speed would be nice though. The lack of online multiplayer feels like a missed opportunity.
It's not hard to see where MySims Racing took its inspiration from, or rather which game it ripped off. If you have ever played Mario Kart before then the tracks, controls, power ups and pace will all feel mighty familiar to you. But of course, while it's certainly a fun diversion, it just cannot match the quality and enjoyment level of its iconic predecessor.
