Guerrilla: KZ3 Story Has Been "Ramped Up"

From Killzone 3's "Ramped Up" Story To The Winter Uprising! - News Roundup 14th November 2010

Plenty of leaked details and Brendan's hands-on preview have given us a good idea of what to expect in Killzone 3, but one of the most intriguing aspects of the game hasn't received much coverage until now. Early reports suggested that the story would explore the "humanity" and "language" of the Helghast... and in an interview with D'Toid, Killzone 3 producer Steven Ter Heide has revealed that story be much more interesting this time around. Absolute morality will be thrown out of the pram- and apparently a Helghast civil war will play a role in the narrative.

You can learn a lot about its universe by carefully reading between the lines,” said Ter Heide. “When you listen to all the bits of Helghast dialogue in the previous game, for instance, it’s clear that they don’t consider themselves villains at all. From their perspective it’s the ISA pursuing the aggressive imperialist policy; they’re just defending Helghast interests.

That said, we’ve considerably ramped up the pace of the story for Killzone 3. We will show more of the Helghast side, their motivations and background. With Visari out of the picture, several potential successors are vying for control of the Helghast Council. Meanwhile, the remnants of the ISA invasion force want to get off the planet before their window of opportunity closes. These story arcs converge for an explosive finale! - Steven Ter Heide

From Killzone 3's "Ramped Up" Story To The Winter Uprising! - News Roundup 14th November 2010

After the latest dashboard debacle, a crew of Xbox Live Indie developers have banded together to make a stand the only way they know how. By making awesome games. Fighting back against "massage apps, clones and garbage," several studios will be delivering an incredible seven days of gaming during the first week of December. Developers include Radiangames (winner of one of our previous XBLIG roundups) and Jason Silva of I MAED A GAM3 fame. Cthulhu Saves The World is also going to be awesome, courtesy of one of our Hidden Gems developers.

The Indie Marketplace isn't just full of crappy avatar cash grabs- like many would have you believe. There are loads of fantastic games to be found on the service, and hopefully this promotion will help draw some attention to this fact. Here's the full list of games, which you can check out in more detail here. [Indie Uprising via S4G]

New Tomb Raider Reveal Imminent?

From Killzone 3's "Ramped Up" Story To The Winter Uprising! - News Roundup 14th November 2010

We brought you a rumour about a new Tomb Raider title back in September. Our intel suggested that Crystal Dynamics were working on an open world reboot where Lara would have to explore and survive on a mysterious island after being shipwrecked... and the latest issue of Game Informer is teasing something uncannily similar for a 6th December debut.

Well, okay, it's just a boat. But considering the key themes of shipwreck and survival, we reckon this announcement will probably turn out to be the next Tomb Raider. Watch this space.

Assassin's Creed Ascendance Unveiled

From Killzone 3's "Ramped Up" Story To The Winter Uprising! - News Roundup 14th November 2010

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood will be hitting the shelves in 5 days, continuing Ezio's rampage through Renaissance Italy on the trail of the mysterious Templars. However, there'll apparently be a narrative gap between the end of AC2 and the start of Brotherhood- so a short animated film will be bridging the events between the two. Previously known as Secret Project #3, Assassin's Creed: Ascendance will coincide with Brotherhood's release date.

New Tomb Raider Reveal Immanent? Ouch. That made my head hurt. It's spelled (and pronounced) 'imminent'.

Well spotted- in fact, I'm spelling a completely different word.
