Rockstar To Release Standalone RDR DLC Disc
Rockstar has just announced that Red Dead Redemption's downloadable expansion packs will eventually be available as a standalone disc. Confusingly entitled Undead Nightmare, this disc will contain the upcoming Undead Nightmare DLC pack (which shares the same name) as well as the Outlaws to the End Co-op Mission Pack, the Legends and Killers Pack, the Liars and Cheats Pack and all the Multiplayer Free Roam modes released so far. The success of Tales From Liberty City GTA has likely prompted this similar move- though we're also very likely to see a complete edition emerging somewhere down the line.
No news on a release date as yet, but we do know that it will retail at £24.99. You won't need the original game disc to play it.
The Undead Nightmare DLC Pack will contain new quests, challenges and events; and is set for release on October 26th. [Rockstar]
Krome Studios Set To Close? [Rumour Control]
Game Room, Xbox Live's retro marketplace and virtual arcade, has been a source of constant disappointment and aggravation for most gamers... and now it appears that its troubled developers may be on the ropes. Krome Studios have been in an extremely weak position since 50 employees were laid off earlier this year- and poor reviews of Blade Kitten have done little to consolidate their shaky financials.
New rumours are now strongly hinting that Krome is set to close on Monday- meaning that Australia's biggest developer is about to bite the dust. We'll miss the likes of Way of the Exploding Fist... but their recent catalogue has been surely lacking.
We don't know what this will mean for Game Room in the long term if these rumours pan out, but I assume that Microsoft will run the service in-house along with a few retained Krome employees. Considering the fragile situation at Krome Studios, I'd suggest filing this story under very likely.
GT5 Delay Will Be "Short"; New Trailer Emerges
Yesterday's announcement that the long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 has been pushed back into the "holiday season" was greeted with a few amused titters and some resigned groans of exasperation. Regardless of the reasons behind the delay, SCEE have promised that it will be a "short one."
There are numerous reasons why we need a little more time, but I’m not going to go into them. What matters is that the delay will be a short one and the game will live up to expectations. - SCEE rep to VG247
Good good. In other news, a new trailer and some info has emerged from a Taiwanese gaming site (via GAF). Apparently GT5 will ship with global servers and a facility to change drivers' clothes/gear. Oh, and the Chinese Special Edition will contain a cognac glass- thus making it the classiest Spec Ed of all time.
Trailer: Medal of Honor: Frontline HD
