Visceral Will Not Develop Command & Conquer Shooter [Updated]
Update: Nope, there's been some crossed wires in the EA Press Machine. EALA will be making the next EA, with Visceral working on a new IP.
Command & Conquer practically defined the RTS genre, and many series fans felt disappointed by Tiberium Twilight's lacklustre offering. Many thought that it heralded the end of the venerable franchise, but you might be surprised to learn that Visceral Games will be tackling the license from here on in. And taking it in a new direction.
This game is naturally "pretty far out" according to Visceral's General Manager, since the studio is currently throwing the entirety of its resources behind the anticipated Dead Space 2. Nick Earl explained that the Visceral brand was attempting to become synonymous with top-quality action titles after the original Dead Space and Dante's Inferno... which almost certainly means that the Command & Conquer will be an action shooter.
Regardless of which particular geography, everyone feels like they're part of one group. Think about the DICE brand as becoming a strong FPS brand with games like Battlefield, Bad Company 2, and with BioWare being a strong brand for RPGs - we're trying to do that inside the action space, where EA has not had a strong position for some time, -Nick Earl, Visceral Games General Manager
This isn't the first time that a C&C shooter has been on the cards. EALA revealed the Unreal Engine 3-powered Tiberium back in January 2008, but cancelled it later that year due to quality concerns. Hopefully Visceral will deliver a more promising title. [Gamasutra]
Medal Of Honor Tops UK Charts
Reviews of EA's recently-released military shooter may have delivered a "black eye" to the company... but the sales figures are telling a very different story. Medal of Honor enjoyed the largest UK launch in series history, and is currently at the top of the charts (having surpassed even FIFA 11). This might well surprise some of you- and well certainly be a nice surprise for EA's spooked shareholders. [via Eurogamer]

Full Kinect Launch Lineup Revealed
Microsoft has finalised the list of Kinect launch titles that will hit the shelves along with the controversial peripheral next month. There are 17 in all, which is an seriously impressive number for a platform launch. Until you realise that no less than four of them are fitness trainers and five are samey minigame collections, that is.

Monster Yakuza Trailer: Zombies And Boomsticks!
Will gaming's love affair with shambling corpses never end? Valve may be keeping silent about the possibility of porting Left 4 Dead over to the PS3, but Yakuza: Of The End is set to deliver a massive dose of cooperative zombie-killing action to the Playstation audience. SEGA's decision to eschew the usual...you know... Yakuza in favour of hordes of undead was a huge surprise and a slight disappointment for series fans. Luckily, a massive new trailer is on hand to show off the cooperative brain-splattering gameplay in action.
Deadites! Boomsticks! Minigun arms! Illegible Japanese captions! Oh my!
