Ubisoft: Half of Games will be 3D by 2012
3D gaming is still finding its feet in terms of developer support and raw sales, but Ubisoft's throwing itself into the concept headfirst. According to CEO Yves Guillemot, up to half of Ubisoft's future titles will be 3D compatible by 2012.
“The 3D games are going to come more and more with the TV screens that are available. I think next year we should maybe see 15-20 per cent of games that will be 3D on next-generation consoles. And then the following year it will be 50 per cent.”-Yves Guillemot, during the fiscal year financial call.
With the PS3 and Nintendo 3DS adopting three dimensional tech in a big way, this could well be the next big gaming phenomenon... or just another fad. Let us know what you think about gaming's step into the third dimension in the comments! [VG247]
Halo Reach Beta Extended by 24 Hours
All good things must eventually come to an end...but the Halo Reach Beta isn't ready to leave us just yet. Bungie have extended their phenomenally popular beta test until tomorrow, giving us another day to test out the new features, weapons and gametypes (as well as help iron out the kinks). It might be worth planning your "sick day" right now- and start working on your best fake cough and husky voice. [Thanks, Joystiq]
New Black Ops Trailer Blows Our Minds...
The first CoD: Black Ops trailer was confusing and arousing in equal measure thanks to its crazy mix of time periods... but Treyarch's latest video offering is nothing short of spectacular. Whilst there's a fair amount of scripted scenes and animations mixed in with the (few snippets of) actual gameplay, Treyarch appear seems to have the concept of a "cinematic" FPS experience locked down.
Huge explosions? Check. Silent brutal takedowns? Check. Enough awesome helicopter action to shame Black Hawk Down and Desert Strike put together? That's a big check. Just watch it...seriously, it's better than most blockbuster movie trailers. And some blockbuster movies.
