Final Diablo III Class Revealed As Demon Hunter

From Diablo's Demon Hunter To Minecraft's Misguided Fans - News Roundup 23rd October 2010Blizzard have finally lifted the veil on Diablo III's designated ranged class. And no, it's sadly not the archivist. The Demon Hunter is a nimble combatant who keeps enemies at long range; dealing out punishment at a distance with crossbows, an exploding bolas and grenades. A variety of traps will also allow them to cripple enemies and set up choke points.

Enjoy the cinematic trailer!

There's still no whiff of a release date, but why not whet your appetite with my hands-on preview of Diablo III's Witch Doctor?

Minecraft Hit By Denial Of Service Attacks... From Fans?!

From Diablo's Demon Hunter To Minecraft's Misguided Fans - News Roundup 23rd October 2010Popular Indie title Minecraft has been hit by a delibitating series of Denial of Service attacks that have slowed the game to a crawl. This is a dismal state of affairs in itself, but it appears that these attacks have been perpetrated by disgruntled fans who are dissatisfied by the low number of regular updates. An individual claiming to represent the group made the following statement:

[Our] purpose is to send Notch [game creator Markus Persson] a clear message of how the future of minecraft will turn out unless he gets to work, namely by influencing the amount of sales taking place, due to the attacks.

Start providing your customers with the updates that you promise them." -an apparent fan representative, via 4chan

I truly hope that this isn't the case. Sure, loyal fans deserve a certain sense of entitlement and respect... but deliberately perpetrating cyber-terrorism against hardworking independent developers simply isn't an acceptable way of voicing their opinion. I'm glad to say that Creator Markus Persson has now invested in a Denial of Service protection service and will soon be upgrading the servers to restore performance. [CVG]

WOW Patch 4.1 Will Revamp Older Dungeons

From Diablo's Demon Hunter To Minecraft's Misguided Fans - News Roundup 23rd October 2010More news from BlizzCon. Many of World of Warcraft's older dungeons are going to receive a major facelift with upcoming patch 4.1.0, which is set to deploy before Cataclysm's December 7th release date. Blizzard are planning to shorten, tweak and even remove entire floors from the more ancient dungeons to make them more fun and less time-consuming. Even the ridiculously grindy and labyrinthine Uldaman and Maraudon will be snapped into multiple parts for easier questing.

The patch will also add a new max-level raid Firelands and a new five-man dungeon, Abyssal Maw. [Eurogamer]

And Finally: Name Some Disgaea Attacks!

From Diablo's Demon Hunter To Minecraft's Misguided Fans - News Roundup 23rd October 2010If you've got a little spare time and a vivid imaginiation, Atlus could use your help. The Disgaea series is known for its hilariously-named attacks, and they're reaching out to fans in order to label some of the more outlandish techniques in the upcoming Disgaea 4.

Here's the plan: hit the link, watch the videos and give them a name in ten characters or less. And tell us if they're particularly funny! Or blue.
