Insomniac Working On More Ratchet & Clank...

From Deepening Insomniac Mystery to Genital Invaders - News Roundup 7th August 2010

Insomniac recently announced that they were working on a new PS3 exclusive (and set for a Gamescom announcement)- and as we mentioned when we first brought you the story, the smart money was on Resistance 3. Retailer listings, whispered rumours and even a billboard spotted on a movie set all pointed towards a sequel to Insomniac's FPS series. However, Insomniac voice actor David Kaye (who voiced Nathan Hale, the protagonist of the Resistance series) has officially thrown a spanner into the works.

When asked about whether Insomniac were working on Resistance 3, Kaye replied:

“Don’t know about Nate. There are some interesting developments always coming from Insomniac Games. We’re working on more R & C currently.”

Ah. Okay then. This doesn't necessarily mean that Resistance 3 isn't in the pipeline (as the game could well be in the early development stages ), but it does throw a strong new contender into the ring. Could Ratchet & Clank be Insomniac's mysterious PS3 exclusive? Could this even have something to do with Insomniac's implicit support of an HD collection? We'll be at Gamescom to bring you the latest. [VG247]

Zombie Cow's Privates Free to Download

From Deepening Insomniac Mystery to Genital Invaders - News Roundup 7th August 2010

Privates, the new hilarious sex-themed shooter from the esteemed Zombie Cow studios, is now free to download from E4. Taking control of a 'crack' team of commandos, you'll shoot your way through the interior of various private parts and rid them of oozes, critters and some genuinely disturbing genital denizens.

Zombie Cow have a history of producing hilarious and thoroughly gauche titles- so as you'd expect, Privates is fun, hectic, sidesplittingly-funny and absolutely NSFW. [E4]

Guardian of Light DLC Detailed, Co-Op Delayed

From Deepening Insomniac Mystery to Genital Invaders - News Roundup 7th August 2010

We're just under two weeks away from the timed exclusive XBLA release of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light; and after our hands-on preview, we're pretty excited about it. However, a couple of recent news stories suggest that it won't quite be a finished article. In fact, a fair chunk of it will be missing.

First of all, Guardian will ship without any online cooperative functionality. According to Crystal Dynamics, the game will release on time, but we'll have to wait until September 28th for the ability to play with our friends. [Joystiq]

"We made a decision recently because we were focusing on how we can deliver the best possible experience to the players. If we had launched with online co-op, we wouldn't feel comfortable that it was the best possible experience for the player," Karl Stewart, Crystal Dynamics global brand director

Crystal Dynamics have also already set their sights on downloadable content. Apparently some forthcoming character packs will replace Lara and Totec with other adventurers; including well-known characters from other videogame franchises.
