Next-gen begins Next February as Batman takes on The Witcher

Brendan reckons that there's plenty to keep us occupied this year, but the new console generation is set to kick off in the third week of February 2015. An indiscreet Microsoft store listing seems to have outed Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight's release date as February 24th, putting it straight up against The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

As massive third-party sequels that promise to be true 'next-gen' games as opposed to scalable cross-gen ports, both of these titles represent the true end of the last generation and beginning of the new one in gaming terms. For now, finish your backlog and prepare your wallets. 2015 is going to be utterly insane before we've even made it to Spring.

Batman vs Geralt. Who's your money on? Personally, I foresee a sizeable financial dent and a mysterious week-long illness in my future. February is flu season after all...

Silly marketing plan. After the disappointment of the last Batman, people will be hesitant in buying the new one.

After the success of Witcher 2, people will be begging to buy Witcher 3. No contest here.
