THQ's recently announced, CryEngine 3-powered title, Nexuiz, is set for release later this year, as AlienTrap Software tend to the arena shooters' particular development needs. We're actually quite excited for the XBLA/PSN shooter, which promises to blend the high-octane chaos of Unreal and Quake with Crytek's sumptuous tech. THQ have dropped a handful of new screenshots online for us to peruse, so why not take a look?
It might just be me, but I'm getting a distinct Halo vibe from all these shots, especially the derelict space-vessel marooned on the moss-mottled rocky planet. It's design reminds me of The Pillar of Autumn. Halo is hardly the most original sci-fi shooter, however, so it's to be expected that a lot of the genre's aesthetics overlap. All in all, Nexuiz promises to be a very good-looking title, especially for XBLA/PSN.
