Nintendo have been slowly but surely improving their support of indie developers over the last few years, leading to a new scheme that lets you download free demos (and then score a sizeable discount) for nine boutique titles.
Entitled Nindies @ Home, the new promotion is now live worldwide and available via the Wii U eShop. Throughout the coming week, you can download nine indie game demos and receive a 15% reduction if you proceed to buy the full games when they release.
The games in question include xtreme Exorcism from Ripstone, forma.8 from Mixed Bag, Freedom Planet from GalaxyTrail, Lovely Planet from tinybuild and QUICKTEQUILA, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge from Renegade Kid, RIVE from Two Tribes, Runbow from 13AM Games, Soul Axiom from Wales Interactive, Typoman from Headup Games and Brainseed Factory.
The fact that Nindies @ Home is limited to a single week may seem a bit shortsighted, but it's also going to be fairly solid in terms of discovery, buzz and visibility, which is something that indies frequently struggle with on other platforms. Seeing as the Wii U also has a higher barrier to entry, we hope that it will grow into a viable platform for exciting boutique games.
