Nintendo Deploys New Way To Access 3DS Ambassador Programme

Missed The Deadline? No Worries.

Just in case a few 3DS early adopters forgot to log into the eShop to register for the Ambassador Programme (that will provide users who purchased a 3DS before August 12th with 20 free games), there's still a way to enter the scheme. Nintendo Europe will "soon" be deploying a new online tool that promises to let 3DS owners into the scheme so long as they meet one of the following criteria:

a) Have created a Friend Code and connected to the Internet with your Nintendo 3DS system prior to August 12th

b) Have retained your original receipt or proof of purchase for your Nintendo 3DS system

Keep an eye on the Ambassador Programme page for more details. The first free games including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda will be rolling out on September 1st, and we'll keep you posted. The tool doesn't seem to have manifested as yet, but keep checking here just in case.

What happens with criteria b when suddenly you have latecomers pleading with their early adopter mates for a loan of their store receipt?

Nintendo, have you really thought this through? Then again you did launch the console in March of this year for way too much money with pretty much no support from yourselves, so who knows?
