Two Are Only Basic 8GB Editions
Nintendo are looking to get in on the action this Christmas by undercutting their pricey next-gen rivals, helped by three new official software bundles. None of which are actually as attractive as ShopTo's recent deals, mind you, but we've got the details below.
The Mario & Luigi Premium Pack releases on November 8th, including New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U and a Wii U premium console. The two games ship as a two-in-one single disc, so you won't have to fill up your 32GB hard drive with two hefty downloads.
The Wii Party U Basic Pack follows on November 15th, which contains an 8GB Basic Wii U alongside Wii Party U and Nintendo Land. It also ships with an extra WiiMote and Nunchuck, though you'll need a few more controllers lying around to take advantage of these two multiplayer titles on Boxing Day. And, erm, an external hard drive in due course.
Finally, the Just Dance 2014 Basic Pack launches on December 22nd, and contains broadly what you'd expect. A basic 8GB Wii U. Just Dance 2014. And a WiiMote. However, you'll also get Nintendo Land as part of the package.
Prices are TBA, and more to the point, Nintendo can only suggest retail prices rather than set them in the UK. The difference being that retailers have plenty of flexibility to undercut both the SRP and each other.
To be honest, I suspect that many retailers will actually look to sweeten the deal with more tempting bundles of their own - much like ShopTo are doing right now - in the run up to Christmas. We'd advise you to be a little canny, since it's going to be a buyer's market for the Wii U.
