Nintendo GameCube Turns 10 In Europe

Today marks the GameCube's 10th anniversary here in Europe, casting our minds back to lazy afternoons spent playing with friends on the likes of Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Monkey Ball 2, or exploring the depths of Wind Waker, Metroid Prime and Rogue Squadron. Though the plucky console went up against the original Xbox and PS2, Nintendo fans found a wealth of great games to enjoy, and a controller that's frequently remembered as one of the very best. The Gamecube was very much the little console that could, and a decade ago, it absolutely did. Whatever that means.

We'll be bringing you a fond retrospective over the weekend, but until then, I hope you'll join us in wishing the GameCube many happy returns - and share your own memories of Nintendo's little purple box.

Lovely machine, coincided with my university days and living with three other like-minded gamers. Nightly Mario Kart sessions were awesome, as were the fearsome Monkey Bowling/Pool rivalries that developed

Plus it had Resident Evil 4, still one of the finest games ever made

Never had a gamecube, but 10/10 for the cake effort!

Nintendo Europe's marketing should have all been fired for the 'cube! They slept through it's life from inception.
