Nintendo Holding European Wii U Presentation This Thursday

Will We Finally Get A Price & Release Date?

Nintendo are holding a Wii U conference for us Europeans this Thursday at 15:00 GMT, which will accompany the already-confirmed US presser in New York. Hosted by NoE boss Satoru Shibata, it's more than likely that the event will finally reveal release and pricing plans for their new console. You'll be able to watch it live.

Current rumours suggest that Nintendo have taken so long to announce details due to manufacturing issues with the GamePad peripheral, and suggest that the Wii U may be on course for a December launch date. We're hoping for a pre-Christmas release.

How much would you be willing to pay - and what will Nintendo need to include in the launch bundle?

Thanks Jon.

I'm not convinced by the U at all. With completely unbalanced multiplayer thanks to the optional tablet controller, and strong rumours it'll be massively underpowered compared to it's next gen peers, I think Nintendo are taking the problems the wii had and adding to them some whole new problems.

Once bitten twice shy. I'm not falling for Nintendo's bluff and bluster again.

And yet...
Handheld motion tracker for Aliens Colonial Marines? Hell yeah!
Handheld sniper rifle scope for FPS games? I'll have me some of that!
Maps and backpacks displayed on your controller? Sounds good (though perhaps gimmicky rather than outstanding).
There's definitely potential for something great. Which we may well get with the nextbox and ps4, via tablets, of course - but with improved graphics, processing, and flexibility etc...)

If it's over £250 there's no chance.
If it's under £150 it's definitely got to be worth a look.
It's going to be somewhere between those, though, isn't it.

I reckon we're looking at around £200-£220, for the console, one tablet controller, no wii controllers, no hard drive, one playable full party game.
(Probably other SKUs, too, including optional peripherals etc, and of course retailers will have their own bundles/deals.)

I'm still deciding on how many to preorder, so that I can eBay them to make a fortune from idiot mums on their pre Xmas riots/stupidity.

There's a statistical theory that if you gave a million monkeys typewriters and set them to work, they'd eventually come up with the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Internet, we now know they just come up with "yo mamma" lines.

(With all due respect to Ian Hart, whose fantastic quote I've bastardised.)
