Nintendo Partners With HMV For 3DS Midnight Launch In UK

Nintendo has announced plans to launch the newfangled and much anticipated 3DS from 11pm on March 24th, with HMV handling the midnight madness at their Oxford Street store located in London. And for you Northern folk, another midnight launch is happening at HMV LiverpoolOne. The 3DS officially launches nationwide on Friday the 25th.

Another one hundred HMV stores across the country will be opening their doors to flocks of fans once the clock hits midnight, and the first five hundred rabid Nintendo fans to cross the threshold can pick a 3DS game of their choice, for free. Those that follow will then receive a space-blanket - huh? - a 3DS branded shirt and a copy of the Official Nintendo Magazine.

But don't expect to simply turn up with hundreds of your friends and gain entry. Wristbands will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. And with queues supposedly forming a good two days before the launch, you'd better get a spot pronto. As well as an early chance to snag a 3DS, free swag and wristbands - I love wristbands! - HMV will be hosting on-stage competitions for Street Fighter and Pro Evo Soccer fans willing to test their mettle in front of hundreds of onlookers.

But we want to know, will you be getting a 3DS on day one? Are you willing to wait in this cold, miserable weather for it? Or are you not so convinced? Maybe you're waiting for a price-drop? Or maybe you'd prefer to spend your money on something else, the NGP or Kinect maybe? Please tell us, we'd like to know! [Eurogamer]

I personally don't get the whole must be first thing and standing in the cold/outside. Maybe I'm just too lazy but I much prefer when the postman delivers it to my door :)
Only thing I've bought launch day is ps3 and amazon did a great job of delivering early on the day.
