Nintendo: Retro Studios Helped Out On 'Act Of Emergency' To Finish Mario Kart 7

Hideki Konno, Manager and Producer of EAD Software Development Group No.1, has revealed in an interview that Nintendo EAD were co-developing Nintendogs + Cats and Mario Kart 7 simultaneously and that finishing the latter by the end of the year was tantamount to an 'act of emergency'.

According to NeoGAF, who partially translated the interview on the Japanese Nintendo website, 'designers from Retro Studios Inc who worked on Donkey Kong Country were called to help design and model some courses'.

Nintendo had previously announced that Retro had helped design a Donkey Kong Country-themed course, but it would appear that Retro had more of a hand in things than previously thought, with suggestions that Retro worked on revamping the game's entire 16 classic courses line-up,with Nintendo EAD handling the 16 new tracks.

We'll have more for you once the full English translation goes live.
