Nintendo: System Update Should Cure Screen Of Death

There have been several reports flying around regarding the 3DS' black screen of doom, and the new official party line is that the new firmware update should sort everything out...maybe.

'If anyone is experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console, we recommend that in the first instance they download and install the latest system update, now available online,' the company said.

'If the problems still persist we recommend they contact their local Nintendo Customer Service centre to investigate the problem further.'

We're still waiting on 3DS sales data, though analysts are predicting Nintendo might be on the verge of announcing some record breaking opening figures.

We know a few of you have suffered from the BSOD (this writer included), so let us know how you get on after the firmware update.

Nope. I updated my firmware before my 3DS BSODed.

Still, it's only happened once, so I don't know if it's a recurring problem.

I bought a 3DS for the wife, and she has had the BSOD three times. Will be trying the update today...
