The next Wii U firmware update, scheduled for next month, will finally address the painfully sluggish OS. Considering that it takes the best part of twenty seconds to load the options menu, not to mention quitting back to the main menu, this embarrassing state of affairs has been a thorn in our side since the hardware review.

A new video, embedded above, shows how much of a difference the firmware update will make. It should start background downloading once available, and frankly, it can't come soon enough.

Both seem slow as hell... and this is a state-of-the-art console?

Wow.

Who called the Wii U a, "State-of-the-art" console?

Back to the video - that's an excellent improvement. Looks no different from other consoles now.
