Notch-Fuelled Psychonauts 2 Dream A No-Go

Would Have Required $18 Million Investment

Remember last year, when it looked like, for a split-second, Tim Schafer and Markus Persson might team up to bring Psychonauts 2 to fruition? Apparently at the time, Notch was willing to match Schafer's valuation at $13 million.

Except it seems the number was wrong. And Notch is out.

"I somewhat naively thought "a couple of million" was two million," Persson wrote on Reddit. "I had no doubt in my mind that a Psychonauts 2 would earn that money back easily.

"Turns out they wanted 18 million dollars, haha. I don't have the time at the moment to even try to get educated enough to make an eighteen million dollar deal. Perhaps in some distant future when I'm no longer trying to make games, I could get into angel investing.

"I've made one private investment into a game so far, at 100k, and it's frankly a lot more work than I thought."

Would you have loved to see Psychonauts return? Does $18 million seem a bit much? Would a more cost-effective, Telltale-esque episodic model work? Let us know your thoughts below.

No need for Notch to get all snarky just because the deal fell through. Now he's trying to make it seem like the misunderstanding wasn't his fault. "Angel investing"? There's no need to be smartarse about it. Just grow up, Notch.
